Commitment #13: OL Patrick Kugler

Wow. That’s really all I can say. Our offensive line class is full, basically a year before Signing Day.
Kugler is a 4* offensive tackle who stands 6’5” and 280 pounds. Rivals ranks him 54th in the nation. Kugler holds more than 20 offers including ones from Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Stanford. He is clearly one of the nation’s top offensive lineman. Kugler is a great player, as he has great feet and is excellent at getting to the second level. As a sophomore, Kugler earned 1st Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State Class AAAA honors. Interesting fact: Kugler is the son of Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Sean Kugler.
Kugler should be the last commit for the offensive line, barring any unforeseen circumstances. The coaches have said all along, and have told all their o-line recruits that they’re only taking 5. Well, we’ve got our 5. All 4* players who Rivals ranks in the top 200. Wow.
It sounds like the coaches know exactly who they want, to be honest. If you’re interested in Michigan...great. But they want the guys who are in love with Michigan. Kugler visited Michigan yesterday (for the first time) and now he’s commit #13. This coaching staff is on a mission. And they’re succeeding. What’s interesting is that Coach Hoke was not on campus yesterday. That’s right, we received a verbal commit from a top offensive lineman without the head coach on campus. That’s unprecedented. Kugler was also planning on visiting MSU for their Junior Day today, but decided to commit to Michigan instead. That just makes me a little happy inside. Kugler is also Michigan’s 4th commit with an offer from Ohio.
So it looks like we have the stud QB and the stud offensive line. All we need is a couple more wide receivers and a running back.
Kugler is the 9th (!) Michigan commit in the ESPNU 150 watch list for the class of 2013. He is the 9th commit of the past week that is a 4-star player. And that’s only because the 10th (WR Jaron Dukes) hasn’t been ranked yet. That makes 13 total commitments, 11 of which are 4-stars. Like I said, Hoke is on a mission.
