I had a chance to talk to Bobby before putting this piece together, and he is clearly a very humble athlete who is striding to become nothing less than the best he can be. He keeps his family, friends, and God up top, where he says "they belong" and has been alongside friends (including another possible Wolverine, Ronnie Larue) throughout his years in football. To me, this is really a great thing and fits well with the type of "character" athletes that Brady Hoke has been recruiting at Michigan.
Here are the basic listings for Baze:
Bobby told me the recruiting process will really start picking up his Junior year at Prime Prep and that everything that has happened up to this point is still settling. He can Google his name and find numerous articles and profiles on himself, which is something he says he's always wanted to do. He plans on studdying journalism or communications in college.
On the football field, Baze has the makings to be one of the most athletic WRs, no matter where he decides to go. He was clocked on the 40 at 4.6 seconds, his bench max was recorded at 185 lbs., and has a 30 inch vertical leap. Add all of that to being 6'0", and you have a WR that could do some serious damage out wide and in the slot. The only thing that is a little surprising is his size. He probably needs to get a tad bigger to play some serious college football, but he has plenty of time for that, so there's no need for alarm.
One thing that could really help Bobby before entering the college level is putting on more weight. Being 6'0" is a huge plus for a WR, but there is a very physical side to the position that requires more "meat on the bones."
